Cluj County
On the territory of Cluj county there are 3 of the important vineyards in Transylvania, namely Aiud-Triteni, Aiud-Turda, and Dej, with a cultivated area of over 260 hectares, with geographical indication Transilvania Hills. The Thematic Route The Wine Road passing through Moldovenești, Mihai Viteazu, Călăraşi, Căianu, Frata, Viișoara, Tritenii de Jos, Luna, Mociu, Ceanu Mare, Cămărașu, Buza, Cătina, Fizeșu Gherlii, Geaca, Mica, Bonțida, Sânmărtin, Pălatca, Ungurești, Țaga, Mintiu Gherlii, Sic and Jucu, the localities that delimit the Wine Country today. The route is about 130 km and crosses 4 municipalities – Turda, Câmpia Turzii, Gherla and Dej, also 25 territorial administrative units UAT, each remarkable by its culture and traditions. The German population redefined the importance of the local climate and the famous terraced soils, maintaining the tradition of the vineyards in the area. The types of wine you can find here are: Traminer Pink/Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat Ottonel, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Neuburger, Riesling Italian, Riesling of Rhin, Fetească Regală, Fetească Albă, Furmint.
